Zesty Sausage Sub

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 long crusty baguette
  • 6 tbsp. olive oil
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 lb. hot ground sausage
  • 3 cups MID'S Garlic & Onion Sauce
  • 1 large ripe tomato, sliced
  • 4 tbsp. jarred hot peppers, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh oregano and basil

DIRECTIONS

In large kettle, cook sausage until browned. Stir often, breaking up sausage into small pieces.
Drain. Stir MID'S Garlic & Onion Pasta Sauce into cooked sausage, and set aside. 
Cut baguette on long side, keeping top attached, and hollow out insides. Drizzle olive oil over the inside of baguettes. 
Cover with provolone cheese, then spread sausage/sauce mixture over length of baguette. Layer in tomato slices, then sprinkle with hot peppers, oregano and basil.
Cut baguette in half, and wrap each half in foil. 
Place in warming oven for approximately 15 minutes or until cheese is melted. Serves 2
