Eggs Poached in Tomato Basil Sauce

Say hello to your new favorite brunch item! Get the tangy, and comforting flavor of MID'S at any time of the day with this take on traditional Shakshouka.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 jar MID'S Tomato Basil Sauce
  • 1 tsp. Cayenne Pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp. Dried Basil
  • 4-6 Eggs
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Pinch of Freshly Ground Pepper
  • 2 tsp. Freshly Grated Parmesan

DIRECTIONS

With a deep saucepan, pour entire jar in and turn heat to low. Add the spices if desired.

Break each individual egg into a cup and slowly tip them into the tomato sauce.

Cover the pan and simmer over low heat for 5-6 minutes, until the tops are white and the yellow shows of the yolk. You want the yolk to be runny!
Turn off the heat and season the eggs with salt, pepper and parmesan. 

Serving Information

Serve in a bowl with garlic toast.
