Penne with Vodka Cream Sauce


  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 small shallot, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper, or to taste
  • 1 jar MID'S Traditional Sauce
  • 1/4 cup vodka
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 lb. penne pasta


Bring large pot of salted water to boil.
Melt butter in large saucepan over medium heat.
Add shallots and cook until softened, about five minutes.
Add garlic and crushed red pepper and cook until aromatic, about 30 seconds, being careful not to burn the garlic. Add MID'S Sauce and vodka, and bring to a simmer.
Reduce heat to low to maintain a low simmer. Add penne to boiling water and cook until al dente.
Just before pasta is done, add cream to sauce and stir until fully incorporated.
Drain pasta and toss with sauce.
Serve immediately, garnishing with minced parsley and freshly grated Parmesan if desired.
